Sirenia without female vocals and less poppy songs. This could be THE only sentence needed to review this album. Mortemia is a project of Morten Veland, THE man behind THE first two records of Tristania and of course Sirenia. He took care of everything on this album (instruments, programming and production), except for the choir parts of course.

Like I already said there are no female vocal parts and that makes THE album sound a little heavier. In THE heavier genres I am not always pleased when there are female vocals, but on this album I miss it. With a good female singer THE songs would have made an even bigger impression. Nevertheless, most of THE songs are good enough and THE combination grunt/choir delivers THE necessary variation.

If you like THE last 2 Sirenia albums you will like this one too I guess; like I said in the first sentence, this could be a new Sirenia album. For Tristania and Sirenia fans; a must listen.
