I must admit that I have grown a bit tired of black metal lately... however this CD called ‘The Extra Dimensional Wound’ from LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH is a pleasant surprise in my book.
Many black metal bands tend to be all about blast-beats, fast yet monotonous riffs and strained and painful vocals, but this band has something to offer in my humble opinion. They have managed to string together 8 quite interesting tracks that slowly but surely grows on you.
Especially the first 3 tracks and track 5 “Damnation Pentastrike” makes me drool like an ugly beast from hell, ‘cause the songs contains very interesting riffs that will be creeping up on you in no time. But... let’s not forget the drummer. He provide us with rhythms so strong that you will find your self jumping up and down in pure excitement... or feeling very evil, if you like.
‘The Extra Dimensional Wound’ surprised me and managed to win me over after a few listens and I’m sure that genre fans will find this CD interesting... so check it out and taste a fine cup of blood.
