'Alright, alright!' the wee Caputo smurf
exclaims between some of the songs on this new live release from the masters of melancholy groove, Life of
Agony.
And things really do seem to be alright in the LOA camp. The comeback album 'Broken
Alley' from 2008 was in my view a huge disappointment, with only two or three
songs worthy of the band's past efforts, but there is no doubt in my mind that
the New Yorkers burst the boundaries live. If I'm in any way to trust this
recording from the Belgian capital, they certainly kick arse.
LOA parade through a true best-of collection, including songs from all albums -
even the less fortunate 'Broken Valley'. Love to Let You Down, however, is the
one song from that album that reaches for the stars, so fair enough.
Apart from that, '20 Years Strong' shows us a 2010 version of LOA that is
arse-tight, groovy, heavy, emotional without whining, ready to go and, well,
stronger than ever.
I, for one, can't wait to see Life Of Agony again out there - you're welcome in
Denmark soon, boys!
