Fast paced death metal mixed with groovy parts is what this Danish band called Eciton is all about. Well... impressed with their 2005 release ‘Oppressed’ I was eager to check out their latest offering ‘A Scent of Veracity’ and I’m not disappointed.
This CD should please most genre fans but there might be something that the average metal listener will find interesting as well. Because even though that Eciton’s music is pure death metal they never forget to throw in groovy parts and quite melodic guitar runs. And it’s exactly the groovy parts and the guitar runs that stands out on this CD.
Just take a listen to tracks such as; “Lack of Interest”, “Manipulated Death”, and the excellent “3:51” and you know what I mean. Especially “3:51” is awesome... it’s aggressive yet groovy and contains lots of memorable guitar runs and drumming will make you bang your head like crazy.
The CD clicks in about 36 minutes so you don’t have that certain feeling that it goes on and on and on forever.
‘A Scent of Veracity’ is a grower that will please most genre fans, I’m sure. So check it out.
