It is time to slow down... Germany's premier doom metal band Doomshine is back with their sophomore album, entitled "The Piper at the Gates of Doom", yes a spin-off of Pink Floyd's debut album from 1967.

Only a few doom metal bands have the depth and ideas to keep me on the edge of the seat for an entire album, Doomshine is one of them, and what they have conceived here belongs to the absolute elite of doom metal, in the area where only Solitude Aeturnus and Candlemass lingers.

The only thing missing here for this album to challenge my all-time favourite doom metal album Candlemass' "Nightfall" is that one song of the calibre of "Samarithan". The ten songs they have written have the trademarks, quality and depth any high quality doom song needs, and this album has classic written all over it. Need I mention that this is a mandatory purchase for metal fans of all kinds...

Slow-mo album of the year!
