Borislav Mitic
The Absolute
Rating
Style: Instrumental
Release date: December 4th 2009

Of all the guitar schools out there, Borislav Mitic, a Serbian turned Canadian, embraces first and foremost something I can only consider very true to what Joe Satriani did in his early years. ‘Surfing With the Alien’ is present throughout ‘The Absolute’, and if you’re a fan of Satriani’s style, that ain’t half bad. Hints of Van Halen can also be detected, a fact that most guitar fans will not dislike.

When you’re in the instrumental guitar shred mood, Mitic offers a brilliant stab at the entertainment you’re looking for. He’s precise and displays a virtuosity that is neither vulgar nor makes you feel he’s a complete show-off wanker. There are actual songs and structures in this, and that, I believe, is key in order to create a guitar album you can stand listening to from one end to the other.
