The Dutch death metal band VERMIN was formed in 2002 and ’Define : Divine’ is the title of their latest release.

In March 2006 they won a band battle in Hamburg, Germany and to some point I can understand why; We get 10 tracks of pure death metal with an okay but a bit muddy production.

VERMIN is at their best when they slow down and provide us with heavy... and I fucking mean HEAVY riffs so catchy that you grab your air-guitar and start playing along. But when they speed things up again they suddenly sound repetitive and a tad monotonous to me.

The drumming is also quite weak at times. Sounds like the drummer is playing on auto-pilot... at least on the fast parts. ’Define : Divine’ is one of those albums that I enjoy listening too, but don’t feel like playing over and over again.

I can recommend it to genre fans... but most of you can still live without it I think.

Good but not great!
