It was a very pleasant surprise to receive the new Valravn CD ‘Koder på snor’ from the kind people at VME, especially because my wife adores the band, but it has nothing to do with metal whatsoever – as in: not even the slightest hint of metal or even rock.

Don’t get me wrong: the Faeroese-Danish band plays beautiful music on 'Koder på snor' as they did on their debut: a fusion of folk and electronica with Anna Katrin Egilstrød’s almost Bjork-like vocal on top.

We saw Valravn a few months ago not far from where we live, and the whole thing was a warm, yet intense experience. You couldn’t but be enthralled by the atmosphere this band is able to conjure up.

Much recommended music, visit their site and listen – but metal it most certainly ain’t.
