I don’t hate black metal as such.
Honestly, I don’t.
I just find most of it…difficult to digest.
And difficult to digest Tenebrae In Perpetuum’s third long player certainly is. Cold, spiteful, primitive and with a guitar sound like electrified egg slicers and rumbling drums, the Italians move forward with a subtlety of early Darkthrone.
What the PR person at Debemur Morti Productions wants to sell to me as ‘mystical magnificence and dissonant grandeur’ is another term in my dictionary for ‘plain noise’ – because that’s exactly what most of ‘L’Eterno Maligno Silenzio’ is.
Nice try, but not quite there. Your best bet for a good tune is this one: Dissoluzione In Preghiera. Try it if you dare. It’s got harmonies and variation and stuff!
Next, please.
