This band hails from Bern, Switzerland. The name Shakra sounded familiar to me. I have read some good things about them in the past years, but I never took the time to visit their Myspace to take a quick listen. With not knowing what to expect I turned the stereo on and I have to admit that they quickly convinced me.

Shakra leads us through some fast melodic rockers, power ballads and touching ballads. Mark Fox's vocals are clean with an at times rough edge. This gives the songs a more rock feeling. Not just once it reminds me of the vocalist of Disturbed. Because of that some of their songs sound like a commercial and more melodic Disturbed, like the track "Let Me Lie My Life to You". In "Dirty Money" we hear the AC/DC/Krokus similarities and in "The Journey" they serve us one of their spectacular guitar solos.

This might be something for you if you are fan of hard rock with some balls. Fans of Gotthard, AC/DC, Whitesnake, Pollution and even those who like the softer melodic parts of Disturbed have found an album they could add to their collection without hesitation.
