It was with some sentimental
feelings I put 'Contact' (Live in Munich) on. Recorded live on what turned out
to be the last tour with charismatic front man Michael Sadler running the show.
After more than 30 years he made a decision to use his time on other things and
leave the band after the tour.
Live on stage is
where Saga shows their true colours and
shines; tight, entertaining and just a brilliant live band that has worked on
their act for so long that it is working great even on a bad day.
Sound and quality is as
always high, the set is a brilliant retrospect of more than 30 years of music,
and the new songs fit right in. Sure this is strictly for fans, and I am sure
that the bonus disc will make others fall asleep, but I don't care. I have been
a fan for almost my entire life, and I think this is their best live output
since their famous 'In Transit' album from 1981.
