Swedish epic doom, that's what's stated in the info. First song "From the Dark" sets of very fast for a doom band. Three minutes later the tempo is going down and indeed Isole is real epic doom. The more than 11 minute long track immediately gives you a kind of summary for the rest and what to expect the rest of the way. Theatrical clean vocals from Daniel Bryntse together with Crister Olsson and some low grunts done by Henrik Lindström combined with heavy flowing riffs.

The music is a kind of combination between Anathema, Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus, fans of Swallow the Sun will not be disappointed either. In "Forlorn" we hear Torbjörn Weinesjö (Veni Domine) and in "Dark Clouds" Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry) plays the guitar solo. In another long track "Dark Clouds" we even hear some black-metal kind of growls passing by. This makes the album very variable, also the very good clean melancholy singing parts make it more than your average doom album.

Although it is not normal with a doom album, I seized myself even with a smile on my face. Not that this is happy music, but they just do it so damn good. Well done Sweden!
