The beast has stirred from its slumber, the legions of hell have gathered and the new era of Goreaphobia is here! 'Mortal Repulsion' is death metal in its darkest and most aggressive form. This are just 2 lines from the label's info-sheet. Of course the info about a band is always very positive and not very objective.

It appears that Goreaphobia originally was formed back in 1988. After a demo and a 7 Inch EP entitled 'Omen of Masochism' the band quit in 1993. They suggest that the band was rather legendary, but I take that with a pinch of salt. In 2008 they gathered to finally record their debut album 'Mortal Repulsion'. Expect old-school late 80's, early 90's death metal. Old Immolation, Venom, Celtic Frost, Motorhead and even Bathory influences pass by. The songs sound old-school with no gimmicks and modern sounds added. Just death metal the old way.

My biggest criticism is that they have chosen to copy the 80's sound and production as well. It all sounds very authentic, but in my opinion this album would be much better if the sound would be more up-to-date. Personally I am not waiting for rather average (perhaps it was more original back then) death metal with an ancient production. Perhaps there will still be some die-hard fans who like this, but if you ask me, there are a lot other (and better) ways to spend your money. Die-hard fans should however take a listen...
