Chris Laney is
probably more than anything famous for his talents as song writer and producer,
but now he ventures out on a recording adventure on his own. But he has made a
wise decision to hire help in almost every department. Song writers on the
album include besides Laney, Bruce Kulick, Lennart Östlund and Mats Levén.
Many other 'celebrities' from
the Swedish hard rock scene do appear on the album as well: Martin Sweet (Crashdiet),
Zinny Zan (Easy Action, Shotgun Messiah, Zan Clan) and Vic Zino (Hardcore
Superstar) are among some of the many guests appearing on the album.
Musically we are nicely
situated within the safe confines of melodic metal with a strong commercial
touch, and there are clearly parallels with bands like Def Leppard, Europe and
Alice Cooper. Everything is well written and executed, and this album has a lot
in common with many albums released 20 years ago, just brought up to today's
standard sonically.
'Pure' is a fine little piece
of melodic metal and had this album been released twenty years ago, then I am
sure a song like "Skin on Skin" would have had a big chance for commercial
success. Memorable melody-lines, catchy choruses and an above average
production, what more can you ask for? Not much, so make sure to have this one
on your shopping-list at the end of March when it hits the stores.
