I’m turning into a convert of sorts.

With ‘Kill’ (2006) came a shift for me.
From regarding Cannibal Corpse as a hugely overrated, mediocre death metal band who got lucky during the nineties, largely due to their extreme covers and lyrics, I came to see them as a tight and interesting band.

‘Kill’ was cool.

But get this:

‘Evisceration Plague’ is cooler.

It’s a death metal machine of the old school.
It’s brutally and mercilessly grooving the heavens asunder.

No, ‘Evisceration Plague’ doesn’t move the genre boundaries one bit.

No, there are no clean vocals or keyboards.

No, there are no female Goths anywhere near this.

Yes, you get five guys who’ve been at it for two decades, who’ve got their shit together and 12 relentless tracks to prove it on an excellently produced disc.

Heads down death fucking metal!
