Pfff, I think I have a problem said a Dutch thrash/death festival organizer to his financial adviser. Well, what's the problem? With the financial crises I can't get enough sponsors and money to put some good thrash and death acts from abroad on the program! Why not? There are not enough bands touring around in Europe next summer and to have them come over for just one festival is much too expensive!
I have a good idea that can solve your problem the financial consultant said. You just invite bands that don't need to travel that far, from Holland I mean! O.k., but there must be at least 8, they have to be good, just had an album out and they need to attract enough visitors too! You never find that many bands. Wanna bet! What would you say about this line-up? Sinister, Thanatos, Hail of Bullets, God Dethroned, DeadHead, Pestilence, Legion of the Damned and ehhhhhhh...... ASPHYX! Hell yeah, what a great line-up. By the way, did you already listen to the new Asphyx?
It is HEAVY as hell and it crushes your brain right from the start. Steam-rolling song "Scorbutics" leaves no questions asked Asphyx is back and with class. You immediately recognize the guitar sound and the drive in the songs. Martin van Drunen's (also Hail of Bullets, ex Pestilence) kind of sick and mad vocals grunt and scream like old times. Second song "The Herald" is a song that can be added in the same row as their famous M.S. Bismark. The riffing in that song is again amazing.
With this record Asphyx returns to the early days at times of 'The Rack' and 'Last One on Earth'. But they also succeeded in making the album more modern and ready for today. People who have always liked Asphyx have another must buy, those who didn't like it yesterday, don't like it today either.
Indeed: DEATH .......THE BRUTAL WAY.
