Versus the World is yet another re-issue and the fourth from our Viking Warriors, Amon Amarth. I'm sure you have an idea of what to expect from these Swedes, or do you...?

The sound of course does improve in this re-issue in contrast to the original. You hear the distinct differences with everything.  Isn't that the point of re-mastering after all? That's really all there is to it. It does not wander off to far reaches of Metal. Just the usual, simple structure, familiar album and yet gratifying.

I've said this before and I will say it again. You can never go wrong with Amon Amarth. Songs are mid tempo with easy crunching riffs, far fetched drumming, with angsty, striking, harsh vocals. It seems to be the perfect recipe for Amon Amarth. Like the delicious fudge that grandma always makes, everyone just likes it.

There is a second disc, and again it contains the live version of the songs performed in Bochum, Germany, of December 2008 (These guys are so entertaining live, they have so much charisma on stage). Then there's a lot of extra goodies like liner notes from the band, rare photos and it's in a special pop-up digipack. It also comes with a cool box for storing all four reissues, which is unfortunately only available in Europe. A great collection to all the Death Metal fans.
