The undisputed Viking Gods of Melodic Death from Sweden has finally re-issued their album, 'The Crusher'. After eight years of release, it was bound to happen. They re-released 'Once Sent from the Golden Hall' and 'The Avenger', why not this as well?

As a solid and satisfied fan of Amon Amarth's old material, this gave no feeling of excitement. Especially because it seems to be a fad nowadays for bands to 'remaster' and taint their previous albums just to leave listeners in disarray. Just like when Týr yet again released 'Hail to The Hammer' in their album, 'Land'. The production is better of course. In terms of musicianship, nothing changes really.

I would say the only reason to get this is for it's live content (2nd Disc) of their performance in Germany. I had the chance to see them live last year with Ensiferum, and as usual, live material is unflawed. But then again, we all know these guys like to keep it safe. I hate to admit it but they have not done anything to yet surprise me. In a way, we like to keep it that way. If you like Death Metal, Amon Amarth is part of your vocabulary. Plain and simple.

There is a bonus track. They take on 'The Eyes Of Horror' by Possessed. Not that I almost failed to mention, It's just that it is too mediocre and not worth mentioning. I will stick with the original, thanks.
