Torben Enevoldsen (Section A, Fatal Force) used most of 2008 writing new music, and some of the songs turned out to be different than the style we usually associate him with and he decided to create a new band to pursue this style. And the result is a fine debut album that touches ground with the likes of TNT, Van Halen, Toto, Dokken and Giant.
The album features Tony Mills (TNT, Shy) on two tracks "Don't Call Me Tonight" and "Wait No More", Geir Rönning (Radioactive, Prisoner) on three "Hold On", "No Looking Back" and "Digging", Torben Lysholm (Pangea, Mysterell) wrote the lyrics for "Just Wanna Be With You" and also sings lead on "Can't Make You Stay", Lars Säfsund (W.O.A.) did the vocals on "An Illusion" and Torben Enevoldsen takes care of all guitars parts, bass and keyboards on the album, sings backing vocals on a few songs and also did the lead vocals on "Jamie's In Love" and "Let Go". Last song is the Torben Enevoldsen showcase "Mad Antenna", which I could easily have done without.
The different vocal styles mix the album nicely up and give it a twist as well as diversity. The self titled debut album from Acacia Avenue is a solid, well produced and versatile melodic hard rock injection, one that stays true to the trademarks and virtues that made the bands mentioned above sound like they do and Torben Enevoldsen lead work throughout the entire album is outstanding.
