Back in the 80's there were Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Slayer, Kreator and
Destruction just to name a few. They all survived and are still playing thrash. Dekapitator, Fueled by Fire, Evile, Maze of Torment, Munical Waste, Avenger of Blood, Lazarus and also Warbringer belong to the NWOT (New Wave Of Thrash). I am very curious to see, how many of them will survive the next 20 years. Although there is no originality in their music, they all deliver high standard thrash and they play it with a lot of fun and pleasure.
Warbringer is a young band from L.A. all between the age of 17 and 22. They play combination of Kreator, Exodus, Testament, Slayer, Destruction and Sacrifice. Especially the vocals of John Kevill have a link with Rob Urbinati (Sacrifice). The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by legendary Bill Metoyer (Slayer, Dark Angel, D.R.I.).
With an intro that does remind me of the "Ticket to Mayhem"- intro from Whiplash, "Total War" starts outrageous. I am a peaceful guy, but this kind of war you can always bring to my house. All the songs have the same high standard and are brutal as a mad dog. John Kevill growls, screams and shouts angry and emotional. In some songs there are also several gang shout-along choruses. The drums are very authentic, no click tracks, the guitars are heavy and the solo's are howling like a wolf. What do we want more!!
I think Century Media has found one of the bands that will survive the NWOT-hype. Who ever said: "Peace Sells ...but who's Buying?" was wrong, war sells and Warbringer has just begun....
