There is a very good reason for that with the 6th release from this Christian progressive doom metal band, it so damn good. To be totally honest with you all I didn’t like this at all when I first heard it, but after only a few spins Tongues really opens up and takes you on a wonderful musical trip. Fredrik Ohlsson (Vocals) is outstanding on this album, so many similarities to Geoff Tate (Queensryche) especially in the lower to mid range, spot on, just listen to “Bless My Pain”.

It is so hard to put down in words what I feel about the music on Tongues, as I have stated earlier. With every listen I find myself finding something new and refreshing to explore. Think of Queensryche, Candlemass, Black Sabbath & Crimson Glory all mixed together and molded into one band and that’s what you get. Great grooves heavy slow doom parts and a little bit of classic metal, some awesome soloing from Torbjörn Weinesjö the track “The Rider on the White Horse” would fit perfectly on any heavy metal album.

The only negative thing I have to say about Tongues is the lyrics. I know they are a Christian band but a little over the top with the message. Apart from that, this is a great album. Make sure you check out this album, because if you don’t you will be missing out on some great metal.
