Within Temptation, Delain, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil and Nightwish .........La-Ventura. What do all of these bands have in common? They all fall within the genre Gothic bands? Yes! They all have a front woman? Yes! They all come from Holland? No, but La-Ventura is certainly a Dutch band. It looks almost like an epidemic, again a Dutch gothic band. But as long as the level of music is high, what does it matter? Looking at the name La-Ventura you should say they're Spanish, but they are not.

The band was founded by Erwin Polderman (ex-Orphanage drummer) and vocalist Carla Douw. The music you can expect is not as Orphanage used to play, but is in the style of Evanescence,Within Temptation andLacuna Coil. If you like those three bands, this must also be meat for your master. Carla's style of singing is rather similar to the front woman of previously bands. With this difference that Carla's voice is a little lower in general, which doesn't mean that she isn't singing in the high regions. I do find her a little less talented then the other three, but maybe I'm to fussy now.

The music is rather similar to the 3 bands I already mentioned, the band has not found a style of their own yet, one that makes them different and innovating. I think that can be the pitfall for this band. If in the future they will get a more own appearance and can put their song-writing just one level higher, or should I say a little bit different then a lot of bands in their genre, they will certainly survive.
