Faceshift from Sweden emerges from the ashes of Death Metal band Eternal Oath but their debut album “Reconcile” is certainly not death Metal at all but... well, let’s call it Melodic dark Metal with a Melodic Gothic Metal edge. They remind me a bit of Paradise Lost and even the Melodic Metal band Cloudscape.

The promo-CD that I’m holding in my hands contains 12 songs. 12 okay songs but I really miss something... namely highlights. Except for one single track every song is on the exact same level. The only song that makes me sing along is “Bound”. This track is fucking catchy but the rest of the songs are very similar to each other... more variety please!

If I choose to listen to a few tracks only... I find the songs okay. But listening to the whole album makes me feel kinda bored. But maybe I’m just an ignorant? And maybe too spoiled when it comes to music? Faceshift do have the potential to make it out there, just take a listen to “Bound” and you know what I mean. So let’s see what they can come up with on their next release.
