The intent is obvious from the first note played by Vomitory: Annihilation of the senses. I bet that’s what they were trying to accomplish anyway, but I’ve heard this type of death metal a billion times before, and so have you! Still, this is my first real acquaintance with these veterans of the Swedish death metal scene for some weird reason. I’ve heard of the band a million times, and I’ve probably also heard their music before and dismissed it.

‘Terrorize Brutalize Sodomise’ has a clear Swedish quality over it, which sometimes reminds me of a updated and polished version of old Entombed and Dismember – tempo changes ranging from lightning fast blast beats to damn heavy parts wrapped in occasionally sweet guitarshredding. A minor complaint is the vocal which in my ears is a incredibly boring burping of the dry kind.
Despite the brutality, many of the songs have some kind of melody and contain the occasional catchy riff. Death metal with some thrashy twists here and there I’d say.

The production on this album is actually quite alright, although not something worth going bananas over. One minor annoyance for my part is the bass that seems to dominate way to much. Overall we get classic skullfuck musicianship from Vomitory with no excuses whatsoever – I wouldn’t mind owning this album, but there’s no doubt that it would gather dust on my shelf.
