If you define your progressive rock by bands like
Coheed and Cambria, Tool and Porcupine Tree
then make sure you take a long and hard listen to this American band
the next time you visit your local record shop.
Three could easily go as Coheed and
Cambria's illegitimate child conceived while Tool was blasting out
of the stereo. They create the same kind of atmosphere, creating big
soundscapes with a fine balance between the E-guitar and the
acoustic guitar and have just like the before mentioned bands a very
charismatic vocalist, who uses his voice with great variation.
Three belongs in the same segment as those
bands, but have carved their own little niche and sounds fresh and
innovative. They represent a very interesting wave of new and
upcoming progressive rock acts that breathe new and fresh air into
the scene...
Quite a refreshing experience and a nice surprise
for me, it's always nice to be caught a bit off guard by something
new and positive.
Good one!
