About 2 weeks ago I stumbled across a video-clip with this Norwegian band Sirenia and the song “My Mind’s Eye”. My reaction was; - Damn, this track is awesome!!! I ordered Sirenia’s brand new release “Nine Destinies and a Downfall” at once and even though I’m not the biggest fan of female fronted Gothic Metal bands this album really took me by surprise.

“Nine Destinies and a Downfall” is Serenia’s 3rd full-length album and one thing is for sure; I have to hunt down their first 2 album as well.

We get 10 songs (bonus track included) of Gothic Metal of the highest quality with a powerful and great production. Danish singer Monika Pedersen’s (Sinphonia) beautiful voice is all over this release but the vocal styles are varied and are made up by growls, screams, female vocals, choirs… everything.

“Nine Destinies and a Downfall” was written, composed and arranged by guitarist Morten Veland (Tristania) and I can’t find a single bad track on this album. The songs are mid-paced with catchy choruses and my favourite tracks could very well be: “My Mind’s Eye” and “Sundown”, and I promise you that you'll hear Monika’s voice singing inside your head a long after the CD is done.

So, if female fronted Gothic Metal bands are your thing, do yourself a favour and at least check this album out.
