Shylock from Germany is the perfect proof
that first class hard rock doesn't necessary have to be from the US
of A. They come across as a powerful and straight in-your-face
melodic hard rock band not too far from bands like Bon Jovi, Bonfire
and PC69. But there's more than meets the eye here, because they
have created a sound and style of their own, one, which is made to
be presented live on stage in front of a screaming crowd.
'Devotion' is packed with first class hard rock
with hook-laden choruses, melodic and catchy songs that thankfully
never get cheesy. This is party music pure, and each song is
infectious and groovy.
All in all we are served thirteen well produced
and well played songs that deserve your attention if you are into
first class hard rock. The only song I'll point out is: "Farewell
(to the Champion)", which is their tribute to Thomas Hässler, a
well-known German football star and the founder of one the most
important hard rock labels in Europe: MTM Music.
So in their own words: 'Welcome to the party'
(from "Music"), and all I can say is: 'Get the party going and
dance...'
