Shakra has always
been an exponent for powerful, yet melodic hard rock, even though
their last album was somewhat experimental, which didn't go down
well with some of their hard core fans. With 'Infected' they return
to their roots and deliver another solid piece of hard rock.
Mark Fox' characteristic
voice is and will always be the centre of attention, some like his
raw and powerful voice other don't! I think he fits the music very
well in the same sense as Brian Johnson and Bon Scott fits AC/DC.
Fourteen solid rock songs
with its ups and downs is the outcome this time around, and for most
parts its straight ahead rockers, first little breather comes with
the ballad: "Love Will Find A Way". The assault continues and things
don't slow down again before the album is closed on a high note with
my personal favourite song: "Acheron's Way". A well produced album,
with well crafted songs, which should bring joy to many rock fans.
This is a solid piece of
rock with a few too many fillers and I feel fourteen not too varied
songs is overdoing it, but the 10 or so remaining songs are good
without ever being great. Not half bad, but not even close to being
outstanding either - a good party album that you can put on at a
barbecue without anybody screaming or shouting to take it off...
