Robin Beck is no
spring chicken, after all her debut album 'Sweet Talk' was released
back in 1979. Some might know her from her 1988 hit-single "First
Time", a Coca Cola theme tune that went #1 in the UK. She followed
up on the success with what many still consider to be one of the
best female A.O.R. albums ever; 'Trouble or Nothin'' where she was
working together with such notable artists as Desmond Child, Paul
Stanley (Kiss) and Steve Lukather (Toto).
More albums featuring the
cream of the rock musicians followed, and now she returns with her
long overdue solo album #7. The album features 13 very catchy and
melodic songs, written by herself, Jeff Kent, Tommy Denander, Chris
Pelcer and James Christian. James Christian (House of Lords) and
Tommy Denander have produced the album, Tommy Denander handles the
guitars on the album and James sings a duet with Robin.
Tommy Denander proves once
more than he belongs to the cream of melodic rock today and his
guitar play on the album is great, star of the show is however
Robin Beck with her raw and powerful voice - she shows just why
she has been so successful and influential on the female rock scene.
A cool album if you need a
breather or an injection of melodic rock, and songs like "Always",
"Till the Last Teardrop Falls" (duet with James Christian) and "Love
Lies" have a clear hit potential. Should thrill fans of Robin
Beck, Alannah Myles and other female rock artists.
Not half bad...
