Hey, I’m not indicating that Tampa’s Paths of Possession have turned death metal upside down or anything, but they sure as hell play a solid round of metal!

The band around George Fisher (you might know him as Corpsegrinder from Cannibal Corpse) are arse-tight, catchy and mean sounding as f*ck.

Death metal of the old skool it may be, but there is a lot of traditional heavy metal in the melting pot as well, and that makes the whole thing so much more listenable. Iron Maiden in particular would seem to be a major inspiration as the most Maidenesque licks and harmonies permeate practically all 10 tracks on offer.

Corpsegrinder is efficient as ever, although he does worry me a bit, because it sounds as if there is a bit of melody in his growl in the tune I Am Forever… :]

Nice one, Tampa!
