'Dorothy' is the second album from
Italian based band Moonlight Comedy, and they walk down the path so
many bands have walked before them... Playing a nice combination
between hard rock, progressive metal and power metal. You heard this
fusion of styles many, many times before - both in better versions
and in much worse versions...
This album won't surprise many
progressive power metal fans, not that this is a bad piece of metal
- but it never gets above average in this genre either. Skilful and
talented musicians who are capable of writing good songs are a dime
a dozen and Moonlight Comedy fall into this category.
But do not write them off so easily
because their song writing skills are good, and along this journey
some songs do stand out: "Fallin' Under", "Imperfect Mind" and "Side
Effects" - the last one is in my opinion the masterpiece of the
album, where they really show their true potential. This album won't
blow you out the water, but it's not bad either.
