I have been following Lizzy Borden ever
since 'Menace to Society' back in 1986, so it was a real treat to
see them live at Wacken a few years back and to dwell over their
comeback album 'Deal with the Devil' in 2000, and seven years later
he is finally back with another injection of Lizzy Metal.
'Appointment with Death' is picking up they left
us so many moons ago, and Lizzy Borden continues to excel as
a vocalist, his superior voice is once more carrying an album. He
has such a unique voice that you either hate or love him, and I
count myself as a fan of his. The songs have been written as a
joint-effort with new guitarist Ira Black (Metal Church, ex-Vicious
Rumors), bass player Marten Andersson and drummer Joey Scott.
This time around they've invited numerous guests:
George
Lynch (Dokken/Lynch Mob),
Dave Meniketti
(Y & T), Corey Beaulieu
(Trivium),
Jonas Hansson (Silver Mountain),
Erik Rutan (Hate
Eternal/ex-Morbid Angel) and
Michael T. Ross
(Angel/Hardline) among others and all of them adds to
the fun.
Lizzy Borden is an entertainer and his
songs belong on stage in front of a big enthusiastic crowd, and many
of the great songs on this album will really come to life in a live
situation. But don't worry about the quality on this album, this is
pure Lizzy Metal the way we love it, and I am sure this album will
please his faithful followers just as much as it did for me...
Good one!
