French Power Metal band Heavenly was formed back in
1994; a demo called “Coming from the Sky” was released in 1998. In
1999 Noise Records offered a deal to the band and the first
full-length was released in 2000, the album is also called “Coming
from the Sky”. Album number two “Sign of the Winner” followed the
next year, and the third album “Dust to Dust” followed in 2003.
Now four years later the five guys from Paris are
back with a brand new CD called “Virus”, they have stayed true to
their sound and still deliver a ass kicking mix of Helloween, Gamma
Ray and Sonata Arctica.
But compared with the superb “Dust to Dust”, the
“Virus” album seems to be missing something; I just can’t put my
finger on what is missing. There are plenty of great tunes like “
Spill Blood on Fire”, “The Power & Fury”, “Bravery in the Field” and
“Liberty”, but I miss that WOW feeling I had with “Dust to Dust”.
“Virus” is still a great album and certainly a lot
better than the latest Gamma Ray CD “Majestic”.
