After a cool, heavy, driving intro tune with a church choir, Belgian black metal outfit Enthroned shift into fifth gear. ‘Tetra Karcist’ is from the outset a venomous spew of dirty black metal and it isn’t half as bad as you might think it is.

Luckily, it’s not uninterruptedly full speed ahead. I like black metal when it has just a bit of idea, and that idea often comes in the shape of variation of tempo and breaks.

That said, ‘Tetra Karcist’ is not a timeless classic as such, and there are other and better players around, but, again, most definitely a listenable disc by skilled musicians who throw in plenty of energy and variation.
