Well... this is Dãm’s (formed in 1998) second album... the first one is called "Purity [The Darwinian Paradox]"... but my first close encounter with them.

This, their brand new release called “The Difference Engine” is one hell of a weird album in my opinion. I could very well describe their music to be a mix of Thrash Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Doom Metal and Metal Core and I must admit that even though this album has its moments it’s not exactly especially interesting.

Even after several listens only a few riffs stands out and overall it’s a pretty dull affair in my book. The Difference Engine” is filled with energy and aggression, but sadly their music is getting on my nerves. It’s not enough to mix all kinds of Metal-styles, no... you need good and memorable songs too.

If I listen to ONE track at the time I find their music a little interesting... but 9 songs in a row is just too much for me. Most of you out there will either love or hate this album and don’t get me wrong here... I do not hate it... because hate is such a strong word... but I do find it quite dull.

The production is okay... and I do think that you should check them out... because they are certainly different.

Next!
