InsideOut Music is re-releasing the first 3 A.C.T albums with enhanced booklet and bonus material, this review is for the second album 'Imaginary Friends' from 2001 and the third album 'Last Epic' from 2003. Their debut album 'Today's Report' is also available in a new and improved format.

For old fans there really isn't much on offer here, a few demo versions of known songs - OK the Saga cover-version at the end of 'Imaginary Friends' is a nice hidden little gem (I won't give away which song it is, but it deals with a mouse - so Saga fans should know by now), we get a video-clip; "The Making of 'Imaginary Friends' " along with the new and much cooler layout. I have been following them since their first album, and the songs do stand the test of time, and their quite unique style still stands out among the many releases these days.

If you are unfamiliar with A.C.T then I suggest you give these babies a few spins, because you won't find any other band sounding anything like this. Their mixture of melodic progressive rock and pop rock is second to none. Personally I prefer 'Imaginary Friends' over 'Last Epic' because I feel the songs have more depth and are just a little bit more accessible but both albums are worth checking out.

If you for some strange reason only know their latest album 'Silence' then I suggest you get all 3 re-releases and discovers their back-catalogue. Why? Simply because they offer something else, something no other band does at the moment. They have their very own very, very little niche in progressive rock today...
