Spanish
guitarist Tony Hernando began his musical journey at age 9 before
eventually studying
at Musicians Institute G.I.T. Tony Hernando has released 3 solo
albums; “High” (2000), “The Shades of Truth” (2002) and
“III” (2005).
This
brand new release is my first encounter with Tony Hernando and it
is released on both CD
and DVD. - I find the DVD a little more interesting than the CD,
because it’s a pleasure to watch Mr. Hernando handle his guitar.
He is a very talented player, no doubt about that but sadly I find
his music a tad too progressive for my taste. A few of the tracks
are very similar to each
other and most of the time I find myself between heaven and hell.
The
Live performance DVD side of “THIII - Live” features Tony
Hernando on Lead guitar, drum
legend Mike Terrana… on drums, of course. Chema Herrero on
rhythm guitar, Tony Ferrer
on bass and Boris Dimitrov on keyboards.
The
CD side of this new release contains alternative tracks from
different Live performances from
the DVD as well as new mixes and new compositions, and I’m sure
that Tony Hernando fans
are in for a treat.
For
me it was interesting to check Hernando’s music out despite the
fact that I only find a few tracks
great.
Tony
Hernando highlights: “The
Edge”, Men and Machines” and the guitar solos in “Broken
Hero”.
