It’s
hard not to keep in mind what Terrorizer’s 1989 debut, ‘World
Downfall’, stands for when listening to the comeback CD ‘Darker Days
Ahead’. The new release is a good album albeit only 50 % of the
original line-up that has taken part in the recording; Dave Vincent and
Oscar Garcia are sadly missing, thus, in my view, lessening the cult
effect considerably.
And
when I say good, I mean exactly that: the effort is in no way
outstanding although fans of Morbid Angel, Napalm Death and old-skool
death metal will appreciate the 12 tracks on offer here, but still,
I’d venture, without being overrun by enthusiasm.
One
thing I don’t understand is why the production hasn’t moved one dot
since 1989. So much has happened since then, and a fat and juicy
production would do wonders for this album.
