You take
1. the vocalist from Darkseed who essentially sounds a lot like Peavey from Rage and, well, the guy from Darkseed
2. German goth metal sounds en masse

3. A heavy dose of flutes and percussion
3. A heavy dose of synthesized ethno sounds
4. Two female singers who have the voices of ethereal goddesses.

The result? An altogether good and captivating one.

‘Pulse’ is one of those albums you can just lean back to and take in because it has the near-ambient elements as well as the thrash aggression with its own groove. I cannot sufficiently emphasise the beauty of the parts with female vocals and the calm of these – it should be heard!

The metal parts offer little new, but since the sampled ambience of the other parts are always there in the background, the blend remains quite unique. Sometimes you feel that you’re watching the Discovery channel whilst listening to German metal. Get the point?

The CD also contains a simple but interesting multi media section with musings over music and metal as well as the beautiful video for the title track.

Close your eyes, lean back and enjoy.
