The history of Shooting Star goes all the way back to 1974, but it wasn’t until 1980 before they released their self titled debut album. Shooting Star released six albums before they split up in 1991, four of them went in the charts in the USA. A Shooting Star reunion was a fact in 1999 and a new album called “Leap of Faith” was released in 2000 and was followed up by a best of CD in 2001 and a live DVD called “Tonight” in 2002.

The new CD “Circles” is my first encounter with Shooting Star but I have to say that this is one of the best AOR albums I have ever listened to. Tracks like “Trouble in Paradise”, “Everybody’s Crazy”, “We’re not Alone” and “What Love is” all sound like they were written in the hey day of the AOR/Melodic Rock boom in the beginning of the eighties.

So if you are into melodic rock with strong guitars and great melodies Shooting Star’s “Circles” are an album worth trying out.

Recommended tracks: “Trouble in Paradise”, Everybody’s Crazy” & “We’re not Alone”.
