Scar Symmetry was formed in 2004 by Jonas Kjellgren (Carnal Forge), Henrik Ohlsson (Theory In Practice), Per Nilsson (Altered Aeon), Christian Älvestam (Incapacity) and Kenneth Seil to put together a brand new constellation that would express a fresh and heavy form of catchy Death Metal without any boundaries whatsoever.

Scar Symmetry wanted to incorporate huge synthesizers into their music, along with blazing virtuoso guitar soloing, which would all be backed up with complex but catchy rhythms and every style of singing known to Metal in general.

In 2005 Scar Symmetry released their debut album called, “Symmetric in Design” which received fantastic reviews all over the world.

Now they are back with a brand new release, titled “Pitch Black Progress”. The music is catchy and aggressive at the same time. A splendid mix of Melodic death Metal and Modern Thrash Metal, and just listen to Christian Älvestam’s vocals… he switches back and forth between angry and aggressive growls to harmonic and clean vocals.

This album gets better every time you listen to it. It is really melodic and catchy, but in other places they blast like there is no tomorrow and definitely deserves any melodic Death Metal fan’s time.

Tracks like “The Illusionist”, “Mind Machine” and “Retaliator” are simple some of the best songs this genre has to offer. Take my word for it.

The production is great and leaves nothing to be desired, which very much caters to the technical abilities of the five musicians and gives their compositions the strength that this kind of Metal imperatively needs.

Right after the release of the album on April 21st, Scar Symmetry has been confirmed for the Neckbreaker’s Ball 2006 European tour, which is scheduled to take place in April.

The year 2006 could very well be the year of Scar Symmetry!
