Ruffians was formed back in the beginning of the eighties by guitarist Craig Behrhost ex-Lääz Rockit, drummer Luke Bowman and guitarist Chris Atchison soon after they recruited Dan Moura to play the bass, the only thing needed now was a great lead singer, and they ended up with Carl Albert one of the best metal singers the world would ever see/hear.

A self-titled EP was released in 1985 on Victory Records in the USA it was later licensed to Europe and Japan; it contains six great melodic metal tunes. By the end of 1985 Carl Albert left the band to join Villain with whom he released an EP. In 1986 before he went on to join Vicious Rumors, he was sadly enough killed in a car accident in 1995 (R.I.P.).

Ruffians found another singer in Rich Wilde and released a demo in 1987, but no record deal was signed and they split up in 1989. The band reformed in 2004 to play the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany , at the same time Hellion Records reissued the EP on CD with six bonus tracks recorded live in 1985, the EP was also released on a limited vinyl edition including the 1987 demo.

“There & Back” is a double CD containing the EP, the six live tracks from 1985, four demo Tracks from 1984, the four demo tracks from 1987 and a one track video recorded at the Bang Your Head Festival.

These is one of the best re-releases I have ever seen, so get down to your local CD shop and buy “There & Back” - you won’t be disappointed.
