It's not like Platitude is repeating themselves - their first album "Secret of Life" was a nice mixture of progressive power metal and neo-classical stuff, second album was a more fast and speedier power metal effort. And now with their new album called "Silence Speaks" they deliver their to date most melodic album, combining their progressive metal with some melodic influences, which at times even borders to AOR.

Once more they've recorded in Tommy Hansen's cosy little recording studio in Horsens, and the sound is nothing less than magnificent. The songs are all very well crafted, we are clearly dealing with some talented musicians here...

But the album never ignites... sure all of the songs belong to the "rock solid" category, but little potion of magic is missing. So we end up with an album with 10 good songs, an album I am sure will please a whole lot of metal fans. But that's just it, nothing really stands out, all the songs seem to be of the same standard, and this is their third album, and it's about time they've found their own identity and raised the level...

So if you liked their earlier stuff, then I see no reason why this one shouldn't go down easy with you as well, and if you are into melodic metal, then I am sure you find much pleasure with this album as well... do check it out.
