Now,
I don’t particularly enjoy being negative, especially not when
reviewing bands that have been in play for a long time and did their
share.
In
the case of Norwegian Madder Mortem’s latest outing, “Desiderata”,
you constantly think “this is beginning to sound cool”, but, you
know, it just doesn’t.
There
are mad bits and there are raw bits in the band’s blend of nu-thrash
and goth, but it’s so disparate and fragmented that it turns out to be
more annoying than anything else. And front wailer Agnete’s voice
easily gets on my tits for some reason. Perhaps I’m just an idiot who
fails to recognise a brilliant band, but fact is that I don’t get it.
