Second album for HOUSE OF MIRRORS, their debut is called, “Nightflight to Paradise” and was released in 2004. I’m not familiar with the debut album so I can’t compare them, but this brand new release should be faster, more aggressive, but still melodic.

At first I was quite disappointed with “Desolation” but of course I gave it another chance and now I like it a lot. Musically the variation is great… we get every thing from Melodic Rock and Hard Rock to Melodic… very Melodic Metal.

The choruses are catchy they just need a few spins and the musicians know what they are doing here. I can’t help it… but I compare them very much with another Finnish band ALTARIA. This is indeed a very pleasant album that easily could satisfy most Melodic Hard Rock and Metal fans out here.

Still, nothing new and groundbreaking but a very enjoyable album. Maybe the ballad “Where are you Now” is a little too close to a KISS ballad called “Reason to Live”…? The guitar riff in the beginning of this song is an exact copy of the riff in “Reason to Live”. But I can live with that.

Do check this album out if you are into Melodic Hard Rock or Melodic Metal.
