I must admit that I haven't been keeping track of House of Shakira ever
since their promising debut album "Lint". But not much
has changed since those days, House of Shakira is still playing
classic Swedish hard rock the old school way. They have always
been capable of writing memorable melodic songs, and I like
their use of chanting choirs on some the songs.
Performing live in
Bradford
at the Firefest in front of a rather dull audience the band puts
on a professional performance and has a lot of fun on stage.
Playing a total of 10 songs (and a small outro), they delivers a
solid show.
Joining them on the stage - as background vocalist - is original House of
Shakira vocalist Mikael Eriksson, and when he shares the vocal
duties with Andreas Eklund on "Method of Madness" the
show reaches its highlight.
The bonus material includes a brief run-down of the history and releases,
and 4 old videos from the very early days, back when they were
called The Station. The quality - sound, footage and songs are
questionable, but pretty funny to see how it all began.
Not the most interesting DVD this year, and my only comment is this:
FOR
FANS ONLY!
