Wow,
I did not see this one coming! – Only familiar with a few songs
from Dionysus
my expectations to their new album titled “Fairytales and
Reality” wasn’t very high. But…Dionysus has come up with a
bit of a gem of an album. We are talking first class Melodic Power
Metal here. Nothing new and groundbreaking but catchy music just the
way I like my Melodic Metal.
Opening
track “Illusion of Life” should convince any non-believers who
doubt my words. Starting very quietly, but suddenly they burst into
one hell of a catchy guitar-riff and I wassuddenly very alert. This
opening track contains everything I like in a Melodic Metal song,
great riffs and a chorus that sticks like glue.
Most
of the songs there is to be found on this album follow the same
path… catchy riffs and catchy sing-a-long choruses that could stay
in your mind forever. Listening to this album is a marvellous way to
spend some life as you soak up the songs and a happy feeling
overtakes you. How could I almost overlook this band in the past?
The
production is fine and one thing is for sure… I have to check out
their back catalogue right f*****g now!!!
This
album is definitely worth your money.
