Album
number six from Agro formed
in 1992 in South Africa
.This is my first encounter with Agro
who has sold more than 10,000 albums in
South Africa
alone and played
concerts with bands like; Mortification, Shadowlord and Titus
among others.
I
have been listening to this brand new release called “Ritual 6” for
more than a week now, but
sadly nothing, except for track 9 “The Crimson Sea”, stands out. Agro
plays well
crafted Thrash Metal with a progressive edge and when I’m listening to
this album
I actually enjoy it… but as soon as the CD is done I remember
absolutely nothing…except for track 9, “The Crimson Sea”, as
mentioned above.
The album is well played and produced with a
raw and forcing sound but the songs could have been a lot better in my
humble opinion. Most of the melody comes from the guitars that sometimes
create some great riffs but also some great guitar-solo’s… but sadly
when the CD is done… I remember almost nothing.
And
then we have the vocals… (Thrash/Death Metal vocals)… singer Cliff
Crabb’s voice is getting a
bit on my nerves. His vocals simply don’t do it for me… he’s too
monotonous for my taste.
Okay
maybe I’m being a hard-ass here… but the fact is that we got
some good musicians and a few songs have fine guitar parts but the final
result isn’t all that interesting.
