Ever wanted to find out what inspired a particular song?
Was it based on personal experience or simply passive observation? What happened in the recording studio or on stage to make one song sound different from the rest? These are just some of the question bands and musicians attempt to answer in Line 'em Up - the newest page of The Power Of Metal.Dk. This is where your favourite bands comment on their albums, track by track, because as someone once said, “Ideas are the building blocks of ideas”. Enjoy!

Here’s a chance for you to tell our readers about your new album “Our Fear Is Their Force”.But could you please start off by introducing the readers to Davidian? Davidian – Hell-o, let us introduce ourselves quickly ,we are DAVIDIAN a metal band from Stuttgart in Germany and have been around since 2000. We recently released our latest album "Our Fear is Their Force" through Massacre Records, which was recorded by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio Denmark. We have a mixture of a death/thrash/core sound & look forward to giving you all abit more info about the songs in the interview. And now onto “Our Fear Is Their Force”… track-by-track, what inspired you, what topics are you dealing with, what do what to express with this song etc. 01 F.S.O. Davidian – F.S.O. is a part of the song “fake society”. It all started with the guitar melody and some keyboards. Thanks to Tue Madsen it became epic like it is right now and we think it's the perfect atmosphere for the beginning of “Our Fear Is Their Force” ! 02. Behind An Angelic Smile Davidian – This song was inspired by all the cruelties inflicted by people like you or me. Massacres planned by people you wouldn't believe could harm insects. The fact that those acts are done unexpectedly make them even harder to deal with and sometimes when everything pisses you off, you maybe start to think about running amok yourself. I think everyone has felt like that at some point in time and that’s what the song is about. 03. Manmade Hell Davidian – This song is a straight attack at religion. First religion gives people hope, then go on to control them through their own fear. I think religion in it's original form is a good thing, giving poor, sick, or just sad people the hope for something better, but the ones preaching it, gain more and more power by the amount of people following them. In my opinion religions are nothing more than an oppression of the people and those people are happy to be oppressed. A pretty clever thing, the dictators of this world should take this as an example….but then again, they are using it, aren't they? 04. Desperate Cries Davidian – Most of us have experienced lots of pressure at work, bad treatment and the fear to say something and lose their job because of it. I believe a lot of people are unhappy in their jobs but what shall they do? The most of us have a lot things to take care of and the worst thing would be to have no money. With this lyrics we want to tell the people that they are not alone. To know not to be alone with these kinds of thoughts can be a great relief 05. Shattered Illusions Davidian – It's about fake “friends” who lie and betray you. We hate those kind of people and have all experienced problems with those kind of fuckers. I hope some of them read our lyrics and I'm pretty sure they know that we wrote about them. 06. Fake Society Davidian – Inspired by all people dependent by the things the industry and media tells us to buy. Us included. We should start thinking about other priorities in life rather than earning more and more money to buy everything and forget about things like real friends and a strong family relationship. 07. Vicious Circle Davidian – Vicious Circle is a song about people who try to escape the stress and hectic in our fast spinning world with drugs. A lot of them destroy their whole life with this shit. Losing their job, friends, family or even die. We're not talking about a joint in a week, we're talking about the heavy stuff and can only give a good piece of advice to everyone, don't even try it once! 08. Constricted Vision Davidian – As you probably noticed, our lyrics deal with societies problems of today. It's not like we're outstanding. Most of the lyrics are an appeal to our self to think more about everything we do and about the things people want us to do. Constricted Vision's topic is the pain and the poorness in the world and how we don't even get touched by it. Everyday it's in the news, people die through terrorism, the industries pollutes our world, kids work for your clothes so that we can by a shirt for 5 dollars, other people die cause they don't have water and our problems are like: Shit, I want to buy an Iphone and an Ipad but I only have money for one and next month I already planned to spend my money on a vacation… It's a crazy world where everyone wears blinders. If we wouldn't, we would start to think about everything and we would start to have a bad conscience supporting or tolerating a lot of things just for our own prosperity. 09. Inner Turmoil Davidian – A lot of people are fighting with their inner self everyday. Feeling useless and questioning the meaning of life. I just can tell everyone, Your are part of this world, and if you die, this world loses an important part and there are people who would be devastated about losing and missing you. 10. Breeding Insecurity Davidian – This is the song which our album was titled after “Our Fear Is Their Force” The topic is about controlling people by their fears. Fears in all kinds of variations like: losing the job, being unacknowledged because of not having clothes of known brands or an up-to-date smart phone, the fear to die and go to hell cause you didn't go to church and paid taxes for it. There are a lot of fears that can be used to control others. And again the message should be, make your thoughts about the connection between the things you see and hear, and why those things have been showed and told to you. The more stupid people are, the easier it is to control them and make them buy everything you want them to and let them make debts just for some stupid things none of us really need. 11. Freedom Of Choice Davidian – Do you think you have a freedom of choice? Or are you choosing between things that are given to you to choose? Tell us a bit about the artwork – who made it etc. and how important do you feel it is to have a cool artwork? Davidian – The artwork was made by Björn Goesses from Killustrations, he also did our last cover artwork, which we really liked and so that's why we decided to have him do the artwork again. We think it's really important to have a cool cover artworkwhich is an eyecatcher so maybe people start talking about it, maybe they even share it around with their buddies and then more people see it that don't know the band and so on. So in the end a cool artwork can mean more new fans. And for us it is important that it fits together with the lyrical concept. Any last words you want to round this interview off with? Davidian – Buy the album, it's fucking awesome!! And support real handmade music!
