Hi,
first off I just want to congratulate you on your new album. To
new fans could your please fill us in on the history behind it
all?
Gun Barrel - Yes- of cause!!!
How
has your new album been received by the media?
Gun Barrel - We the band really can
be satisfied. In all magazines we get very, very good reviews with
high points (Metal Hammer 6 of 7 points or Metal Heart 9 of 10
points etc.) Seams that people like our kind of metal and it seams
that Gun Barrel is on a good way with this new album.
How
would you describe your music to an outsider?
Gun
Barrel - Hmmm...I would say that it’s a kind of straight
heavy metal with a good and healthy dose of rock ‘n‘ roll.
If
your music were an emotion, which one would it be?
Gun Barrel - Funny aggressive!!!
Who
and what inspire you when you write a song?
Gun Barrel - Look around you. You can
find pure inspiration everywhere. It’s all around – you only
got to open up your eyes and your mind. There are so many
different situations with several emotions in our life. I
personally make some notices every day and if something is good
enough, make sense and sounds good than I’m starting up to make
a new song with that.
Who
has produced and mixed the album? Are you pleased with the result?
Gun Barrel - Piet Sielck (Iron Savior/Savage
Circus) produced and mixed the BYS. It was great working with him
together because he is not only a good producer, he’s an
excellent musician and a very nice guy as well. We are really
satisfied by this result.
Do
you feel that you sound will evolve in some different direction,
in the future, or you will still follow the same path?
Gun Barrel - In January’06 Gun
Barrel is starting up to write some new songs for the 4th
album. So I can’t tell you right now what will happen than. But
one thing for sure-Gun Barrel got to have a very powerful Sound
otherwise it’s not Gun Barrel.
Who
has done the artwork? And how important do you feel it is to have
a great cover?
Gun Barrel - He’s a famous art man
in the metal scene here in
Germany
named Dirk Illing(XMD). We are very proud that he designed our new
album as great as it is. To have a good made cover is very
important for a band, I mean, when I’m going out to buy some new
metal stuff the first thing I hold in my hand is the CD. I take a
look at the cover and if the artwork sucks and I even don’t know
the Band I’m not so much interested in that. But there are great
bands, too who failed with their cover design in the past. We love
our sergeant on front of the BYS and we think it fits perfectly
with the album title and the bands name.
Do
you have any touring plans?
Gun
Barrel - Yea we plan it right now but sorry I can’t tell
anything about it yet because we’ve got to check it out right
now.
Let’s
speculate – you have been granted a free slot on a tour of your
own choice – who would be your ideal touring partners?
Gun Barrel - MOTÖRHEAD!!!
How
do you feel about the co-operation with your label?
Gun Barrel - Look Gun Barrel is
working with our record company since the first Album “Power
Dive” together. LMP is standing behind the band and even the
voice(me) changed now they do it like they’ve done before and
that helps this band a lot. They’re doing a good job.
The
Internet is a very important source for many metal fans – how do
you use the Internet and how important is it for you and other
bands?
Gun Barrel - I can’t live without
it anymore. I mean everybody needs it in our days. It’s possible
to send your music out to the whole wide world with some clicks
and you can be very close to the fans by that way.
And
how do you feel about the metal scene in general at the moment?
Gun Barrel - There are lots of people,
bands or just fans here in gem any who listen to our kind of music.
And there are several very good festivals in the summertime, like
“Wacken” or “Bang your head”, where you can see your
“heroes” live. It’s a very good metal scene here.
Which
song do you consider to be the best one you have ever written?
Gun Barrel - I
wrote a lot of songs in the past *gg* but if you mean
songs of the new album it’s “Fearing the fear of my
fears” and “...is you”.
When did you start
playing and how old were you when you became interested in metal?
Gun Barrel - I was starting up
singing’ in the early age of 12..or something around that. But I
guess I was a little younger than that when I’ve listen to songs
like “Stairway to Heaven” or some Punk Rock bands like Motörhead.
Metal is my life!
Name
an album, person or event that has had a huge influence on your
life … and why?
Gun Barrel - As an album I would say
Queen ”Bohemian Rhapsody”. As a person - not so easy...there
are some big voices that influenced me like Rob Halford, Bruce
Dickinson or Geoff Tate etc. And I remained
myself of the “ Monsters of Rock” festivals here in
Germany
in the early ’80 with so many great bands roxx.
Which
music do you listen to at home?
Gun Barrel - I’m interested in all
kinds of Rock and Metal because it contains so many different
bands with so many different styles.
Last
question - do you have any famous last words for our readers?
Gun Barrel - Hay you metal maniacs
out there-we, Gun Barrel hope you like our new album “Bombard
your soul” like we do and we hope to rock together with you in
the near future somewhere on this planet.
Thanks,
Jørgen Ditlev
